#SoulFusionSunday: The Aftermath

soulfusionsunday- live

First, I want to thank everyone who came out in the rain to be a part of #SoulFusionSunday at Pure Lounge, right in the heart of Washington DC‘s U St Corridor. As an independent artist, it really means a lot to me when people (I affectionately refer to as The Citizens) support my music! Now, we had a few technical difficulties getting started but thanks to your patience and a little quick thinking we were on our way to a night full of good music and great people. My right hand man and earthly messiah, Mike Washington from DapperGroove, really helped me out Sunday night ( can’t thank you enough brother!). If he hadn’t been around that day, I might not have ever gotten the show off the ground! ALso, I want to thank my photographer videographer, Tanicia Bethea from 20BDesigns for capturing the visuals of the night!

I felt like it was a great idea to start the show off just listening to the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, and then I opened the the first set with “Night and Day”. “Night and Day” is a fusion of soul, rock, and jazz, and talks about being in the moment and living life to the fullest.

I appreciate the owner letting us put on something new in the newly renovated space. It looked great, especially with the sweet smell of hookah and all the beautiful faces in the crowd. I also thank the audience for their energy and the overwhelmingly positive to the set list full of original music…from to the opening track to the ending many people asked me to post more of the music for download so I’ll get those up as soon as they are done being mastered for the album. I felt like both sets of 13 originals flowed pretty well and the spontaneous addition of two covers “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley, and “Use Me” by Bill Withers were a good mixture of sweet tunes. I got a kick out of watching people bump to another soul fusion jam of mine, Funkandtheboom! I can’t wait to put together the next #SoulFusionSunday and I have a special treat for the audience next time around as well so stay tuned!
